Preforms Are Not Bottles — They Grind Like Solid Resin
A PET preform is 20–50 grams of thick-walled, nearly solid polymer. Blow it into a bottle and any grinder cuts it; leave it as a preform — colour-change purges, start-up rejects, quality failures by the crateload — and small machines stall. Grinding preforms is a torque job, not a speed job.
The RE25CB is the RE25 platform on that duty: 25 HP through a 3+2 hardened blade set, a Star Delta starter managing the load, and a 5 HP cyclone blower evacuating the dense flake continuously. Preforms feed by the crate through the 25″ × 25″ throat and leave as regrind that goes straight back to the preform moulder’s material loop or to flake buyers at premium single-source rates.
At 400 kg/hr it clears bottling-plant reject volumes in hours, not shifts — which is why this configuration lives at preform moulders and large bottlers. Bottles, jars and general PET below 25″ run on the same machine, so most owners use it as the plant’s universal PET grinder.

Throughput is rated for light-weight material on a 15 mm screen; denser scrap grinds at the base-machine rates and output varies with feeding speed and bulk density. Why can’t a smaller grinder handle preforms?
Because a preform is effectively a solid slug of PET — cutting it takes sustained torque that small motors cannot hold. Underpowered machines stall, trip or nibble at half throughput. The RE25CB’s 25 HP with Star Delta starting is sized so preform feed is routine, not abuse.
What happens to the ground preform flake?
