RE8 Plastic Grinder — 8″×8″ Granulator, 3 HP

The smallest grinder we build: a 3 HP, 150 kg granulator that turns small plastic scrap into screen-sized regrind beside the press or in a scrap shop — the honest answer to every “mini plastic grinder machine” search.

The Right Size for Small Scrap Streams

Most grinders are too much machine for a small operation. A single moulding press producing a few kilos of runners an hour, a scrap shop collecting mixed rigid plastic, a workshop that wants its offcuts back as regrind — none of them needs a tonne of steel. The RE8 is built for exactly this: an 8″ × 8″ throat, a 3 HP motor and a footprint that fits beside the machine that makes the scrap.

It works like every RE-series granulator: 3 rotating blades shear the scrap against 2 fixed blades, and a screen under the rotor holds every piece in the chamber until it is small enough to pass — so the output is uniform, dosable regrind, not rough shred. Sprues, runners, small rejects, PET bottles up to 500 ml and general rigid scrap all feed straight in.

At about 150 kg the machine moves on a pallet truck and runs off a standard 415 V industrial connection. It is the entry point of the RE series — when volumes grow, the same cutting geometry scales through the RE12 all the way to the 75 HP RE40, and a cyclone-blower version (the RE8CB) covers light, fluffy material on the identical base machine.

Throughput is for a 15 mm screen and varies with feeding speed, material and bulk density; a finer screen lowers output. Keep metal objects out of the cutting area — they will break the blades. All specifications are subject to change for constant product development.

Key Features

Beside-the-Press Footprint

150 kg and compact enough to sit next to a single moulding machine or in a small scrap room — no civil work, no dedicated bay.

True Granulator Output

Screen-controlled regrind — 12–15 mm standard, customisable — ready for reuse or sale, not uneven shred.

Re-Sharpenable 3+2 Blade Set

Hardened blades are serviced rather than scrapped when they dull — cutting costs stay low over the machine’s life.

Overload-Protected Starter

A jam or an over-fed hopper trips the motor instead of burning it out.

All-Metal Build

No plastic parts anywhere in the machine — built in Mumbai since 1985.

Export-Ready

For export orders we fit a motor wound for your country’s voltage and frequency.

Is the RE8 enough for your scrap volume?

Tell our team your material and daily kilos — we’ll tell you honestly whether the mini grinder covers it or you should step up a size.

RE8 Plastic Grinder — Frequently Asked Questions

What can the RE8 actually grind?

Sprues, runners, small rejected mouldings, PET bottles up to 500 ml, caps, closures and general rigid scrap that fits the 8″ × 8″ throat. Film and very light material are better served by the blower-fitted RE8CB, and anything bigger than the throat belongs on a larger RE model or a shredder first.

How much scrap does it process in a day?

At 35–45 kg/hr on a 15 mm screen, a steady 8-hour shift moves roughly 280–360 kg. That comfortably covers several moulding presses’ worth of runners — a press producing 30 kg/hr of parts typically generates only around 6 kg/hr of scrap.

What power connection does it need?

A standard 415 V / 50 Hz 3-phase industrial connection for the 3 HP motor. For export orders we fit a motor wound for your country’s voltage and frequency.

What output size does it produce?

The screen decides: 12–15 mm as standard, customisable to your requirement. Material recirculates in the chamber until it passes the mesh, so every granule comes out below screen size — which is what moulding machines and regrind buyers specify.

What is the price of a mini plastic grinder machine in India?

Every machine is quoted to the job. What moves the number is capacity, throat size, motor rating, MS or SS construction and the automation you add — a blower, a conveyor, a control panel. Our guide to what drives machine cost walks through each of those; send us your material and daily volume and we will size the machine and quote it, usually the same day.

Can I see it grind my material before buying?

Yes — bring your actual material to our works in Andheri East, Mumbai, and watch it processed on this machine before you decide. A trial settles throughput and output-size questions better than any brochure.
