The Compact Multi-Duty Step of the RE Range

One step up from the entry-level RE8, the RE12 is the machine we configure for more different duties than any other model. Its 12″ × 12″ throat swallows PET bottles up to 1 litre, saline bottles and nested syringe bodies whole; its 5 HP motor and 3+2 hardened blade set cut them against a 12–15 mm screen until every piece passes — uniform, dosable regrind, visibly destroyed and saleable.

That screen-verified output is why the RE12 serves regulated work as well as routine scrap. Indian biomedical waste rules require recyclable medical plastics to be disinfected and then mutilated before they leave a facility — the RE12 is the mutilation and volume-reduction step that follows disinfection, producing destruction you can demonstrate to an auditor. One boundary stated plainly: the grinder does not disinfect; autoclaving or chemical treatment happens upstream.

At 360 kg on a standard 415 V connection it fits hospital utility areas, CBWTF lines and workshop corners without civil work. When volumes outgrow it, the same geometry continues through the RE16 to the 75 HP RE40 — and the RE12CB adds a cyclone blower for film, foam and light bottles.

Throughput is for a 15 mm screen and varies with feeding speed, material and bulk density; a finer screen lowers output. Keep metal objects out of the cutting area — they will break the blades. All specifications are subject to change for constant product development.

Cloth grinding. When textile destruction must produce short, uniform fibre — filler and flock feedstock, laminated jute, branded labels and tags destroyed past recognition — the RE12 grinds fabric against the screen at an honest 30–40 kg/hr (fabric flexes away from blades and recirculates longer than plastic, so the rating is lower than the plastics figure and we say so). Strip metal eyelets, zips and buckles before feeding.

Laminate grinding. Reject laminate rolls feed end-first and printed wrappers go in by the armful; the output is screen-sized multilayer flake that meets cement co-processing and RDF piece-size specifications by construction, with batch codes and branding gone. Laminate duty also runs at 30–40 kg/hr. Filled tubes and pouches with product inside belong on our liquid pouch recovery machine instead — grinding filled packs wastes product and fouls the flake.

Does this machine disinfect medical waste?

No — and no grinder does. Disinfection (autoclaving or chemical treatment) is the upstream step under the Biomedical Waste Management Rules; the RE12 performs the mutilation and size reduction that follows, so treated plastics cannot be reused and enter recycling as visibly destroyed material.

What medical items can it grind?

Disinfected saline and IV fluid bottles, syringe bodies (needles removed), tubing, catheters, glucose bottles and similar rigid or semi-rigid medical plastics that fit the 12″ × 12″ throat. Glass vials and ampoules belong on a dual shaft shredder instead.

How much does it process per shift?

At 60–80 kg/hr on plastics, an 8-hour shift covers roughly 500–650 kg — more than most individual hospitals or small scrap operations generate. CBWTFs and aggregators needing headroom step up to the RE16 platform.

Why are the fabric and laminate ratings lower than the plastics rating?

Physics, stated honestly: fabric and multilayer laminate resist cutting and recirculate longer before passing the screen, so the same machine that grinds 60–80 kg/hr of rigid plastic does 30–40 kg/hr on those feeds. Suppliers who quote plastic ratings for every material are setting you up for disappointment.

Can the ground output be sold?

Yes — that is the point of grinding rather than crude shredding. Screen-sized, single-polymer regrind from PP syringes, HDPE bottles or PET is a traded commodity; keeping polymers sorted before grinding earns the best rates. Laminate flake is a disposal-cost-reduction product — it leaves at co-processing rates instead of landfill rates.
