RE20 Plastic Grinder — 20″×20″ Granulator, 15 HP

A 15 HP granulator that processes 250–400 kg of plastic every hour through a 20″ × 20″ throat — bottles, jerry cans and jars up to 20 litres, containers and mixed rigid scrap, ground to a size your recycling chain can use.

The Workhorse Size for Serious Recyclers

The RE20 sits in the sweet spot of the RE range: large enough that a full day’s collection from a mid-size recycling operation moves through it in one shift, compact enough that it fits an ordinary industrial shed without civil work. A 15 HP motor drives the 3+2 hardened blade set across a 20″ × 20″ throat that takes 20-litre jerry cans whole — caps, rings and all.

It is also the machine that makes India’s HDPE stream profitable: clean natural-colour regrind sells at strong rates, and the RE20 keeps cutting thick-walled handleware without bogging down. At 250–400 kg/hr on a 15 mm screen, one machine on one shift moves 2–3 tonnes — the scale where a bottle aggregation business or a moulder’s in-house recycling line actually pays for itself.

Typical owners are recycling units, waste aggregators selling by weight, and manufacturers grinding rejects on site for compliance or security. The RE20CB adds a 3 HP cyclone blower for continuous bagged discharge on the same platform.

Throughput is for a 15 mm screen and varies with feeding speed, material and bulk density; a finer screen lowers output. Keep metal objects out of the cutting area — they will break the blades. All specifications are subject to change for constant product development.

Key Features

20-Litre Jerry Cans Feed Whole

No pre-cutting — the 20″ × 20″ throat takes the full Indian container range.

15 HP Against Thick Walls

Handleware and heavy-wall blow mouldings cut without stalling.

2–3 Tonnes per Shift

250–400 kg/hr rated throughput at steady feeding on a 15 mm screen.

Screen-Controlled Output

12–15 mm standard, customised to what your washing line or buyer specifies.

Re-Sharpenable 3+2 Blade Set

Hardened blade steel — a worn set is serviced, not scrapped.

1,062 kg All-Metal Build

No plastic parts, overload-protected starter, made for years of daily duty.

Also configured for: food waste grinding

The same RE20 build runs institutional food-waste duty for composters, biogas plants and bulk waste generators under the SWM rules: mixed canteen and market waste tips into the 20″ × 20″ throat by the binload and leaves as uniform grind that composts faster and digests better — decomposition follows surface area, and 15 mm pieces expose vastly more of it than whole waste.

On food waste the machine covers 300–400 kg/hr — a large canteen’s daily waste in under an hour. Honest guidance: very wet streams flow better blended with drier material, and the painted-MS build should be washed down after each run. Tell us your daily kilos and downstream process and we will size it plainly.

RE20 Plastic Grinder — Frequently Asked Questions

What kinds of plastic waste can the RE20 grind?

All kinds — PET bottles and jars to 20 litres, HDPE and LDPE containers, PP articles, caps and mixed rigid scrap. The practical limit is the 20″ × 20″ throat: if the item fits, the blade set handles it. Oversized items like full drums or furniture need a dual shaft shredder first.

How much waste can I process in a day?

At the rated 250–400 kg/hr, a steady 8-hour shift moves roughly 2 to 3 tonnes; two shifts, 4 to 6. Light, bulky bottles take more hopper time per kilo than dense scrap, so plan from your real daily tonnage with 25–30% headroom. Consistently above 2 tonnes per shift? Look at the RE25 or RE30.

Do caps, rings and labels need to come off first?

Mechanically, no — everything grinds together. Commercially it depends on your buyer: mixed PE/PP regrind trades at the standard grade, while cap-free sorted HDPE earns a premium. Float-sink washing separates the polymers downstream if your line has it.

How does the RE20 compare with the RE16 and RE25?

It is the middle step of the ladder: the RE16 runs 10 HP at 150–250 kg/hr with jars to 10 litres; the RE20 runs 15 HP at 250–400 kg/hr with jars to 20 litres; the RE25 jumps to 25 HP and 400–600 kg/hr, accepting any plastic below 25″. Describe your volume to us and we will place you on the ladder in one call.

What maintenance does it need?

Two habits cover most of it: keep the cutting head properly lubricated, and sharpen the blades periodically. The biggest avoidable problem on any grinder is metal in the feed — it breaks blades. We train your operators at installation and supply spare blade sets from Mumbai.

What is the price of the RE20?

A mid-capacity machine like the RE20 falls in the middle band of our range — see the plastic shredder machine price guide for capacity-wise figures. What moves the number is motor HP, throat size, blade steel and any customisation; send your requirement for an exact quote.
